Akiko’s story. Autumn term had only just begun and Akiko was on her way to Nishinokyō Junior High School on Kiyamachi Dori in Kyoto near the Kawagamo river. Once upon a time there was a naughty little girl, she was aways getting herself into trouble, torturing her pets, treading on snails and generally being disobedient despite the fact that her parents treated her kindly and bought her presents and dressed her with nice clothes and bought her pretty shoes. Once a week she went to ballet lessons but she never tried very hard and never practiced at home despite her mother buying her lovely ballet costumes and expensive satin ballet slippers. The party or John's new clothes. When John and his sister Susan received the invitation to the party, John nagged his mum to buy him some new shoes to go to it in as he felt his school shoes were too old and plain for a party. He had been quite specific, he wanted the same shoes he wore when he was younger and that his sister wore. She was a little surprised that he wanted maryjanes  or strap shoes but she had loved to dress him in maryjanes when he was younger so she was really quite happy with his choice and pleased that she would see him wearing maryjanes once again.
